About me

I work as a consultant for the World Bank Health, Climate, Environment, and Disasters (HCED) program. Previously, I was a health literacy researcher with the Meedan Digital Health Lab to produce LearnAboutCOVID19.org, while serving as a COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fellow through the Harvard J.F. Kennedy School of Government Bloomberg City Leadership Initiative. I completed my Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, with a concentration in Humanitarian Studies, Ethics, and Human Rights (HuSEHR) from the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, exploring how to enable grassroots innovations in health education at the Kakuma refugee camps in Kenya.  Earlier, I completed a Masters in the Learning, Design and Technology program at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, focusing on increasing learning opportunities within communities of internally displaced and South Sudanese refugees in Northern Uganda.

I have also been working with D-Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a program that collaborates with community partners in over 20 countries to design technologies to address issues of poverty. Like my colleagues at D-Lab, I believe that anyone can become an active creator of technological solutions to their own challenges, not just passive recipients of aid. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to learn while serving on the board of trustees of the Global Issues Network, engaging youth in international schools to do meaningful projects in their communities, and on the summits advisory committee with the International Development Innovation Network, which brings together innovators from all over the world and all walks of life for collaborative design work to address challenges related to poverty.

My undergraduate degrees are in civil and environmental engineering and business administration. With this background, I co-founded a social enterprise in India called Zimba, which works on community-scale automatic chlorine dispensers to disinfect drinking water, and also served as a fellow at the MIT Climate CoLab in the areas of climate adaptation as well as shifting attitudes and behavior. I hope to combine my interests in public health, environmental conservation, and community resilience, supporting people around the world to engineer their own solutions for sustainable development.
